Many say there isn’t much to do in Ohio, but as a certified camper I have to disagree. Although Ohio may not have much city life it makes it a perfect place to get outdoors and discover the true beauty Ohio lands hold. Camping is pretty popular in Ohio and trust me there are many places to explore. You would honestly be surprised on how many places there are to camp in northeast, Ohio. Some even during the winter months. But today we are going to focus on 5 of the Best places to set up your camp in Northeast Ohio. So let’s get to it…. (These are not by order) But here are the best camping spots in Northeast, Ohio
1. Geneva State Park Campground– One for the books
Geneva’s Campground has tons to offer you. There is no doubt that Geneva State Park should be in the best camping spots in northeast, Ohio. You can go biking, Boating, Fishing, Hiking, Swimming, And even participate in snow sports in the winter months. Geneva has 698 acres for you and your family to explore. You could set up your tent, RV, or even rent out a cedar cabin and make it a glamping trip. This place has amazing views and wildlife. Very nice place to take your family. But before you plan your trip you are going to want to look up attractions around, Geneva has tons to offer to effect your experience.
2. Portage Lakes State Park– You’re gonna get wet

Portage Lakes is the perfect family camp spot! It has 2,034 acres used for fishing, boating, and swimming. It also has some nice trails you can hike and you might even find some wild raspberries. 10/10 would recommend this place for any kind of first time camping and younger kids. This one you can even bring your dogs. Also within walking distance they even have a fenced in dog park where they can go in the water. You can camp here or even just go for a “Lake Day” this place is fun no matter what time or day you go. This is a good place to follow and keep up with the events they hold.
3. Heritage Farms in CVNP– A quiet place
Heritage farms is quite interesting! It is a tree farm that has camping. I know it sounds weird. And no you’re not going to be lined up in between trees like you decided to camp out by your local farmers market around Christmas time.. No this place is that place. Some of the campsites are more out in the open but you still have privacy. This place makes you feel like you’re in a magical farm land. You can tent camp here or even better hey have wooden little shelters you can sleep in and catch a really good glimpse of the stars at night. Opened for 165 years (Five Generations) and known for their beautiful sunset and Sunrise scenes. You can also hike along some really cool ledges. This place is definitely one to check out!
4. NELSONS LEDGES– Peace and Party
The Nelson’s Ledges is definitely one of a kind. If you’re looking for amazing views, peaceful vibes, and great people this is the place for you. It’s basically a hippie compound. The ledges that can be found on the other side of the park are absolutely remarkable. The Quarry even has a cliff you can jump off of. Most of the time they have food trucks and shops where you can buy things like crystals, swimsuits, and random finds. You truly can not be bored at this location. Which is why it is included in the nest camping spots in northeast, Ohio. This place regularly throws events such as festivals. Yes, it is 100% kid friendly for all ages even during these events, but warning…you may smell some pot while you’re there. You will never be alone at this site there are always people camping there.
5. Cherokee Park Co– A cute get away
Cherokee Park Co…. Okay this one is a fun one! If you go here you’re bound to have a good time. 100% kid friendly. They have 50 acres of peaceful land for you to explore including a lake for catch and release fishing. They offer a game room as well as weekend hayrides. Everyone you bump into is super friendly. You just feel comfortable here. This place will make you wish you took more time off.

There you have the best camping spots in Northeast, Ohio! The best time to go camping in Ohio in my opinion would be from May-October although some do camp out in the winter.
